SAN Certificates
Until recently I haven’t heard about these until a use case came up which required SAN certificates.
Lets say you have a site that has DNS name mysite.com which uses SSL. You wanted to create another DNS name for your site myothersite.com. You do not want to create another instance of the site but wanted to bind to the existing site. This is where SAN certificates are useful. In this case you can obtain SSL cert that contains mysite.com as the subject and myothersite.com as the Subject Alternate Name.
Neat!.
